2012 Orange British Academy Film Awards Winners Announced

On Saturday night the entire film world turned its eyes towards the Orange BAFTAs (the British Academy Film Awards) to see how this year’s most buzzed about films would fare across the pond. Riding their wave of success from the Golden Globes were films like The Help and The Iron Lady as well as this year’s powerhouse The Artist which was named Best Film as well as six other awards: Director, Original ScreenplayOriginal MusicCinematography, Costume Design as well as a performance award for Jean Dujardin who won the Leading Actor BAFTA. It was a star-studded night with more deserved wins from some expected and unexpected nominees.

In addition to the nominees there were two very special and distinctive awards given on Saturday night. The award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema was received by John Hurt. The Fellowship, the highest accolade which the Academy can bestow, was presented to Martin Scorsese. The entire Orange British Academy Film Awards ceremony was hosted by Stephen Fry and held at London’s Royal Opera House.
