Yesterday we saw this mesmerizingly bold new X-Men emblem (below) and today we have the first official trailer. Quite uncanny, wouldn’t you say? Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Well this is more of a teaser than anything else but still more than an announcement. Funny how there are so many categories for something as brief as a movie trailer. Oh well, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, behold – Xavier’s First Class:
Well that certainly lived up to the hype. I’m totally digging the direction of this (using the Cuban Missile Crisis as a backdrop to the story) and the retro feel of it has me more than intrigued. I’m hopeful especially since Mr. Layer Cake himself Matthew Vaughn is at the helm, but am slightly worried because of the film’s rushed production schedule. Guess we’ll see what happens this summer. We should see the official full on trailer before long and X-Men: First Class will hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011.
First Class is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will star: Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique and finally James McAvoy as the famous Charles Xavier.

I’m happy that they released this trailer cause this does look very cool and exciting now. The casting of younger actors is what may help this film out in the long run, mainly because McAvoy and Fassbender have proven to be amazing in their own films, so it’ll be cool to see how they do with a superhero script. Can’t wait for this!

Yeah I was skeptical before the trailer but now I’m on board. Still W-Men Origins “looked” good before it was in theaters so maybe it’s still too early to tell:P

It’s a sweeeeeeet trailer indeed, Marc! I too was mesmerized by this, I’ve watched it like half a dozen times by now. Btw, I read that the pic above of the whole class is a fake.

Yup, that was going around the day after it hit the web. In our last post I wrote that it looked fishy and was more likely a concept photo made before anyone was really associated with this. But from what I see here, I’m liking it more and more:)
