    G-S-T Review…Fury

Even in the short time he’s been directing films, David Ayer has shown he has a no frills approach to storytelling. Just a quick glance at films like Training Day, Harsh Times, and End of Watch, will reveal, consistently, very specific types of characters – ones so gritty, visceral and real that they seem to come through the screen. Now no one ever proclaimed that war is glamorous, but Ayer seems to go to great pains to make sure no one would ever imagine war as anything other than a living hell. Further, it’s hard to call any soldier a “hero” once you learn the lengths some may go to…

    Sweet Trailer…Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah'

How does Russell Crowe top playing Maximus, Robin Hood and even the Father of the Man of Steel? Well there’s really only one way. He’s gotta go back, way back, like old testament. After lots of anticipation and some news of production woes (what HUGE feature doesn’t have them?) we’re finally getting to see the epic vision for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah starring Crowe as the Biblical hero. This is supposed to be a mammoth production, without question the biggest film Aronofsky has ever tackled, and filled with painstakingly rendered CGI animals. A lot of what we’re seeing is quick cuts, basically an extended teaser, but it looks sensational. Enjoy! In Aronofsky’s…

    Sweet Trailer…'Writers'

They say writers write what they know. So why is it they all have messed up stories to tell? Well that’s because life is messed up and they’re usually the only ones brave enough to bring that fact to light. By sharing their problems, awkward situations, inadequacies, etc. they give hope to a whole generation of people possibly facing similar issues. That said a little cinematic sugar can help the uncomfortable mess they call life a little easier to put down. As such, if you’re keen on that sort of stuff, enjoy this trailer for Writers from Millennium Entertainment. Writers stars Greg Kinnear trying to keep his the pieces of…

    G-S-T Review…The Perks of Being A Wallflower

In the feature film adaptation of the popular (and semi-controversial) young adult novel of the same name writer/director Stephen Chbosky recounts part of his younger life as puts a difficult time in his life on display for the world to see. A bold film told in a retrospective manner we, through a series of letters Chbosky has the main character write to himself, get to know and see life through the eyes of a troubled high schooler named Charlie (Logan Lerman). A kind of therapy for the author who lived through some of the events depicted this story is about balancing friendship against  estrangement and inner turmoil. It becomes a fascinating…
